Quick guide
Find changes between two versions
You edited a text, saved another version, and now you need to know exactly what changed. You could read both versions from top to bottom... or let the comparer handle the boring part.
How to read the result
The idea is simple: red means something was in the original and is no longer there; green means something new appeared. Anything without a highlight stayed the same.
If you look at both texts and think, “But they look identical...” check the details. For the comparer, “Hello” and “hello” are different. So are an extra space and a different line break.
What if you change a whole line?
You will not always change a single word. When a line changes, we show which parts disappeared and which parts appeared within that line, so you do not have to compare every word with your eyes.
If you move or reorganize several lines, the result may show them as removed in one place and added in another. The text was not lost; its position changed.
What about very long texts?
You can compare up to 50,000 characters and 1,000 lines per block. That is plenty for ordinary documents. If you exceed a limit, split the text into smaller parts first.
Your texts stay in your browser
The comparison runs locally in your browser. We do not save or send the contents of either block.
Frequently asked questions
Does the comparer distinguish capitalization and spaces?
Yes. “Hello” and “hello” count as different. We also detect spaces and line breaks, so the difference may be there even when the texts look the same at first glance.
Are my texts sent to a server?
No. The comparison happens directly in your browser. Your texts do not need to leave this page.
Can I compare very long texts?
Yes, up to 50,000 characters and 1,000 lines per text. For anything larger, split it into parts and compare them separately.
